In 2006 Nic and Zoe's Chief Creative Officer, Dorian Lightbown, saw an overly structured uniform of dress stifling active, busy women. Seeing the need for a creative, easy alternative that could take women from day to night and from work to weekend, she thoughtfully designed against the grain.  She named the company after her two favorite people, her children NIC+ZOE, as a reminder of the support they offered her during a pivotal time in her career.
